Ashley (:you
I'm Ashley.
Kelsie (:I'm Kelsey.
Nicole (:I'm Nicole. The Petty Paddy Wagon kills me.
Ashley (:you
Monica (:my favorite. that is the newest thing from the group chat this week and i'm obsessed.
Ashley (:Welcome.
Nicole (:Okay, so I have a question for you guys because a Couple episodes ago. We talked about embarrassing things and I said I didn't have any embarrassing moments, which was true True because I don't really I don't have anything recent but also kind of a lie I remembered something very embarrassing. So now I need to ask you guys before I tell you about it. have you ever Either like
Ashley (:Okay.
Monica (:Go.
Nicole (:sent somebody a text that was about them that wasn't supposed to go to them or said something about a person that they weren't not supposed to hear like you didn't know that they were like in the room and they heard you or something like that because I have and it is horrifying and I'm not gonna tell you yet so you guys have to me first my god please no just tell us
Ashley (:Hmm.
Kelsie (:I do that way more than I'm willing to admit.
Ashley (:You
Monica (:I like it hasn't happened to me quite as much as when we had like old cell phones and like you thought you were going to the other person and you didn't switch over and that was very problematic but I don't think it's happened as much. gosh. Go, tell us.
Nicole (:Mmm.
Kelsie (:my most that's my story is with an old cell phone.
Ashley (:shit.
Nicole (:Echo, let's say it.
Kelsie (:You want to hear about the time where I talked about breaking up with my boyfriend with the person I was talking about breaking up with him with but I actually said it to him.
Nicole (:Yes, yes, I do want to hear about.
Ashley (:No.
Kelsie (:when he was sitting next to me.
Ashley (:my god, that's so bad. Wait, the relationship did end there, right?
Monica (:This just kept escalating.
Kelsie (:It's, it's actually.
Nicole (:Gosh.
Kelsie (:That one person. It's Cheeto Puff, so anyway.
Monica (:RRRR
Ashley (:Are we, are we going to give any backstory on Cheetah? Okay. We just call him that for fun. We're just, we just call him that. So.
Kelsie (:No. Never. Till the day I die. That's just who it is. Okay? Okay.
Monica (:Keeping that.
Nicole (:Those of you who are listening, I just about had a heart attack. I'm sorry. I don't know if you heard me like die, but.
Ashley (:Ha ha ha
Monica (:Kelsey went there.
Kelsie (:Okay. You could physically hear Nicole's heart palpitate. So we were probably honestly in junior high. Our relationship was pretty long and obviously some on again, off again things happening in there. But before I ever started dating him, I actually had a crush on his best friend. Like that was my original crush was his best friend.
And yeah, but that guy just, he was taking a while. He wasn't really showing, like he was kind of acting like he was in arrested, but like he wasn't making any moves. So I gave up and then I eventually started dating the other one because we were around each other a lot. and so we were together for a while. I don't know, but one day we went, my mom took us.
Nicole (:Been there.
other one.
Monica (:my god.
Kelsie (:Somewhere we were hanging out, chilling in the backseat and his friend was texting me, which wasn't that uncommon. We were like all kinds of friends at that point, I guess. Anyway, he said something to me like, I was getting ready to ask you out whenever, right when I found out you were dating. We're just gonna call him Cheeto because I'm not gonna use his name obviously. And...
Monica (:Relaxing all cool.
Kelsie (:And so I was on my little flip phone texting T9, you know, and somehow they both started with the same letter, their names. Somehow I was in Cheeto's text and not the best friend's text. And I said, I've been
Nicole (:C
Kelsie (:I've been like, planning to I don't know if I said end it, I surely couldn't have said break up with him because I managed to talk my way out of it. And I don't know if I would have. But basically, I implied that I was gonna break up with him. And then I sent that to him, not to the best friend.
Monica (:Impressive.
Nicole (:stressed for you.
Ashley (:man.
Kelsie (:and he's sitting right next to me. But like my mom is in the car so he's not gonna. And I didn't, I don't think I realized it till he read it. Or maybe I realized it but there's just no undo button in the olden days. You just, when it's sent out, it's sent out. So he was like, I had to, I had to, we were in the car. There was no, it's not like he was at home and I could just like.
Monica (:That moment of panic though. No, no, no.
Ashley (:Mm -hmm.
Nicole (:The olden.
Monica (:You
Kelsie (:pretend it wasn't happening. No, he was sitting right next to me. So I had to claw my way out of that one and be like, that was way out of context. Like I meant to send that to my friend we were just like talking about. I don't even know what I told him. I sure that it was not believable at all. He looked like a kick puppy. I
Nicole (:You
Monica (:gosh.
Ashley (:and he bought it.
Nicole (:Aww, poor Cheeto.
Kelsie (:It was horrible, it was really bad and quite possibly one of the worst versions of that mistake that you could possibly make.
Monica (:That's pretty bad. Yeah, that's a bad one.
Ashley (:I bet that happens all the time though. I think that that's common. And in bigger scenarios, like right, you guys were like kids and so it's whatever, but I do think that's probably common in like marriages and shit, know, people who are having affairs, I bet it.
Nicole (:I think so. Yes. I feel like.
Kelsie (:Yeah, yeah.
Monica (:Mm -hmm.
Nicole (:Could you imagine?
Ashley (:It's a common mistake texting the wrong person, I think.
Monica (:Yeah, Well, yeah, especially
Ashley (:It's like a nightmare. It's kind of like the same fear as like butt dialing, you know, like, are you ever like talking about somebody and then you check your phone just to make sure you didn't call them, even though like there's no chance. Yeah. Yeah. I'll be like talking shit. And then I'm like, God, did I call that person? And I'm like, no.
Kelsie (:Mmm.
keep my screen on and I'm like, it's not, they're not on here.
Nicole (:Yep.
Monica (:Yeah.
Nicole (:They're not on there.
Monica (:Again, I feel like that was something that happened a lot more with the older phones, right? Like if you were just talking to them and they were like up high on the text list and...
Kelsie (:Yeah.
Ashley (:Maybe.
Nicole (:god, vomit. I want to throw up thinking about that because I've done that before too, texting the wrong person like, but this other, this other, this other experience is worse. Wait, Ashley, do you have one? Do you have one Ashley?
Monica (:Mmm.
Kelsie (:It's a terrible feeling, like...
Ashley (:Yeah.
Monica (:That, yeah, that panic. yeah. Yeah, let's hear it, Nicole.
Ashley (:Well, yeah.
Not - I know I've done it before, but I can't think of one off the top of my head.
Nicole (:Nothing that haunts you at night. Nothing that haunts you.
Ashley (:No, there was a situation, it's not my situation, but someone at work was talking shit about somebody else and accidentally texted that person and then it was like a whole, like they had to get called into the boss's office and stuff. And for me as a third party to the situation, I thought it was hilarious. But I can't think of one that I've done recently.
Monica (:Mmm.
Yeah, I can't think of an example, but I do vividly remember that panic and terror when you realize what you've done. I remember that.
Nicole (:Okay.
Ashley (:Ugh.
Nicole (:have one worse and I'm already sweating yes well I think so okay so I was this is when I was pregnant with my first daughter and I was at work I was sitting at the front desk so when I got pregnant
Kelsie (:worse than mine god
Monica (:man.
Nicole (:and I was like so, so, so sick. My job was like, well, let's teach you some front desk stuff this way. we can, you know, if you're too, just can't work, you can at least come in and still do front desk stuff and you can help the girls in the front desk. And I was like, great, okay. So I was up there one day and the phone rings and it's my boss. And I'm like, okay, blah, blah. She's like, I'm.
I'm coming in today, which we were not expecting her to come in that day. And she's like, I'm coming in today. I'm like, OK, sounds good. We'll see you later. And I hang up the phone, but I didn't actually hang up the phone. And I go to my coworker and I'm like, she's coming in today. I wish she wouldn't. Literally, I was like, she I wish she wouldn't come. Like we both like groaned. OK.
Ashley (:No.
Monica (:no!
Nicole (:but of course she only heard me.
She hangs up. She hangs up. After she hears me say this. And she calls back. And I answer. And she goes, I heard you. And I was like, bleh. I was like, what? What'd what? And she was like, I heard what you said, that you didn't want me to come in. And I was like, well, there's no denying it. I couldn't be like, no.
Monica (:my gosh.
Ashley (:god.
Mmm.
Monica (:my god.
Ashley (:my god.
Nicole (:talking about no because I was absolutely talking about her no no no no and I was like well yeah I did say that but it's not like how I meant it I just meant like you know like huh like somehow sometimes like when the boss is in like I was trying to just like explain myself she was like it's fine it's okay it's okay and then she came in and she was like just mad dogging me the whole day and I was like
Ashley (:was talking about something else.
Nicole (:Like I was with a client when she came in, so think I didn't have to like actually just be alone with her for a minute. But after my client, I didn't have any more clients, but she was in the back room and I had to go into the back room when I was like, what do I do? And so I just went in there and I was like, I'm sorry. I just like, that was not okay. Like I should not have complained that you were coming in. Like my bad. And she was like, it's fine. I just was like, it's enough. was like.
I was like, I'm fired. I am fired. She didn't fire me, but she was like, get it. I'm like, do you? Cause you don't look like you're good. She was scary though. Like I loved her. She was a really great boss. B, if you're listening. Hi, sorry. But
Ashley (:She's like, I heard you. I heard you say I was scary on your podcast.
Nicole (:She was literally, yeah. I mean, all of us would agree. She was scary. She was definitely one of those bosses. When she walked in, you just tightened it up and you just did what you were supposed to do. that was, yeah, kind of. And then outside of work, she was a completely different human and it was really confusing and weird. And it was like, don't know how to be around you. But yeah, that was bad.
Monica (:Devil wears Prada.
Ashley (:Mm -hmm.
Nicole (:I didn't, I was so like embarrassed because I was like, my gosh, I was just flat out complaining about her and she heard me. And then she called me back to tell me that she heard me. Like that was, I was like, I was so like, damn, she really is that bitch. But yeah, no, that, and I still think about that from time to time and it still gives me like all the anxiety and it makes me want to throw up.
Ashley (:Yeah, that's ballsy. That's wild.
Kelsie (:That is ballsy.
Nicole (:every single time I think about it. there you go.
Ashley (:Mm -hmm.
Monica (:That's the worst. That just like also reminds me of like flashback to junior high style of like three -way calling. We're like, let's call so -and -so and like not tell them you're on the phone and like getting caught in that and you're like, shit. It was the worst.
Nicole (:dear.
Ashley (:Ugh.
Yes. I hated that shit.
Nicole (:I hated that. used to happen. That shit used to happen to all the my God, that shit used to happen to all the freaking time. Because I had this one friend, we're still friends to this day and I love her and we've talked about all of our, actually we weren't friends for really long time, but we talked about all our shit and we're friends now. But she used to do that to me all the freaking time. She would call me with somebody else on the phone and try to catch me and some shit. But I was smarter than that. I was like, I don't trust you.
Monica (:Yeah.
Ashley (:I was I was part of like a trio of friends. There was three of us and the other two girls were like much closer and they would one of them was such a bitch. We're not friends because she is a bitch. But she would do that shit all the time, like call and like bait me, try trying to get me to like say something about the other one. And she did that to people like like all all people, like not just me. She was just like not a nice person.
Kelsie (:haha
I don't know how any of us trusted phone calls because that was...
Nicole (:This is why I think as millennials, yeah, I was gonna say, I think as all of us being the same age group, why we all prefer like texting or like FaceTiming so I can see you so I know you're not, you know, like, you're not going behind my back like.
Monica (:I mean, I still don't, so this is probably why.
Ashley (:Mm -hmm.
Yeah.
Monica (:For that reason, actually, for that reason though, I also don't prefer texting in a lot of ways too, because you don't know who that conversation is gonna get shown to. And I am so paranoid about that. Yeah.
Ashley (:Mm -hmm.
Nicole (:That's true, but I definitely don't trust phone calls. I definitely don't trust phone calls. Don't fuck on me. I don't want to talk to you. Anyway, so.
Monica (:Although today's youth will never understand the call waiting and like the beeping and the three -wick calling.
Ashley (:my god, yeah.
Kelsie (:star 67, star 69.
Nicole (:For real. star 67. That was fun. I used to do that all the time. Call people from my block number just to troll them. Yes, of course. Or I would, my best friend and I, we mastered the, we call it the brie brie scream. So like if you listen to like metal and you like that, that like guttural scream that they do, we used to do that when we were younger.
Monica (:Yessss
Mm -hmm.
Ashley (:Then did you ask them if their refrigerator was running?
Monica (:you
Kelsie (:you
Nicole (:and we would just call people and all over them. I can't do it as good now, but yeah, it was. We would do it and we would wait until it was, we would call all of our friends, but like really late at night too. And we just do fucked up shit like that. And then my dad, we only ever did it at my dad's house and he would come out of his room and be like, shut the fuck up. Yeah.
Ashley (:my god
Monica (:I would be so pissed.
Ashley (:That was a dinosaur.
Kelsie (:terrifying. my gosh.
No, my dad.
Ashley (:I don't blame him.
Kelsie (:Did you guys ever watch the ring? so I we had a separate phone line because you know dial up internet And my dad was not gonna have like the internet interrupt his like the phone Line, so we had a whole separate one And so the phone my friends always called our phone. So he's like make them call that phone line the one that's connected to the internet that's your phone line
Monica (:Yeah.
Nicole (:yes.
Ashley (:Yeah
Nicole (:You
Monica (:gosh,
you are fancy.
Nicole (:Yeah, it's so fancy.
Kelsie (:I don't want them to call our regular phone. So that was my phone then. So we were watching the ring one night and he called my phone from the other room because I took it everywhere with me. Yeah. And so I answered the phone and he's like seven days. I screamed and threw that freaking phone across the room and then I walked into the living room like, my God. And he's just sitting there laughing his ass off.
Nicole (:no, dickhead.
you
Ashley (:That's mean.
Kelsie (:It was... yeah.
Nicole (:That's funny! that's so funny. my God. what a time to be alive. The ring. I was actually just talking to my mom this morning about, you guys remember Scary Movie? And the guy that had the little hand and he was like, it's my strong hand. I was just, I was just kind of making fun of my mom this morning because she broke her arm. Hi, mom, love you. And the way they wrapped her.
Monica (:That's like such a typical dad thing to do though. That is so funny. my gosh.
Kelsie (:Yeah, it was good.
Ashley (:yeah.
Monica (:course.
Ashley (:my god.
Nicole (:cast. She looks like she has a strong hand and it's really funny.
Ashley (:you
Nicole (:My poor mom. My poor mom.
Monica (:goodness.
Kelsie (:Nicole, while you're bullying your mom about her little hand, I need to bully her strong hand. I need to bully Monica because that needs a permanent place on this podcast to bully Monica about the fact that she folks listen, I want you to listen closely. She has never read or watched the Twilight series. None of it.
Ashley (:You
Nicole (:That's my strong hand.
you
Monica (:UGH!
Nicole (:Yes.
Monica (:Nope. No. Well, I can't say, I can't, no way.
Nicole (:It's a disgrace. It's a disgrace. You are kicked out of the group chat. No way. It doesn't count. No.
Ashley (:Yeah, it's it's criminal.
Kelsie (:She's gonna tell you she watched 30 minutes of the first movie, but that doesn't mean anything.
Monica (:I made it to the ice in the van scene and Edward saves her.
Nicole (:you made it five minutes in. out of here.
Ashley (:Okay, well the movie, the movie, I mean...
Monica (:But I also feel like I've seen so many memes and jokes that like, have I seen the movie?
Nicole (:No, you haven't no no, it's okay
Ashley (:No, no, you haven't. And you definitely haven't read the book. That's the thing. You need you. Yeah, you wrote it off way too early.
Kelsie (:No.
Yeah, you definitely don't know the story. Yeah.
Mm -hmm.
Monica (:Okay, but in my defense, like, I was so annoyed. It was just, it was one of those things where, I don't know, I think I was probably like a senior in high school when the first book came out, or like when it was like really, really popular. And it was such a hype. I just, couldn't handle it. I was so annoyed. I was so annoyed with the obsession that I was like, I'm gonna be different. I am not reading this book series.
Nicole (:you
Different. Different.
Ashley (:Wait, let me ask you question. Do you have a Stanley Cup?
Monica (:I do not. I do. I do have a simple modern.
Ashley (:Cool.
Nicole (:different. different. Hey, I don't have a Stanley Cup either. I don't have a Stanley Cup either. So it's fine.
Ashley (:Hahaha
Kelsie (:She got the dupe.
Ashley (:Okay, that still counts. I don't have a Stanley Cup either. I don't have a Stanley Cup or a dupe.
Monica (:Because I'm different.
Also, this is actually a very good example of how this is kind of my thing. When things get really popular, I'm like, ugh. And then a year later, I'm like, fine, I'll try it.
Ashley (:you
Nicole (:Yeah. Actually, I will give you that because I was actually the same way with Twilight when it came out. I was a sophomore and everybody was reading it. Everybody in my class was reading it. And I was like, like I just didn't even like reading at that time, really. And I was like, no, thanks. I'm fine. I'll pass. And then maybe like six months went by and I was like, OK, I'm going to read it now. And I did. And then I was quickly obsessed and I understood why everybody was obsessed
Monica (:Yeah.
same.
Kelsie (:I mean, that's kind of what I got going on with the office. That's one of the reasons I just never.
Monica (:Well then it kinda...
Nicole (:same, god, guys no, sorry.
Ashley (:gosh, yeah. Okay, wait, me and Monica love The Office,
Monica (:Healthy. Mm -mm.
Ashley (:and Nicole haven't given it a chance. That's the problem. It's like you can't watch an
Monica (:freaking love it.
Nicole (:I did though.
Ashley (:in the middle of one of the middle seasons.
Monica (:you have to get through at least the second season with it because the first season is like low budget. It's funny, but they're still feeling it out and it
Ashley (:Yeah, very.
Monica (:still very much a copy of the
Nicole (:How is, how is,
Monica (:version. Yeah.
Nicole (:okay, that, okay.
Ashley (:The bigger plot is really what it's all about.
Monica (:So like first season is based off of the British version. And then after that, they took their own spin in like own direction. And it's so funny.
Nicole (:say.
Ashley (:Also, season one is only like six episodes, and then the rest of the seasons are more, and it's just so damn funny. It's so funny.
Monica (:Yeah,
Nicole (:I will say I've seen a lot of clips and memes
Michael Scott and all the things. seems
Monica (:Check.
Nicole (:but I'm like, don't know if I can do the whole show of it. I'll try it, I guess. I tried Parks and Rec and it was just like, I think I got three episodes in and I was like, I cannot do this.
Kelsie (:Two seasons is a long way to have to get in to be invested in something.
Nicole (:I agree.
Ashley (:The first season's only six episodes though, and they're like 20 minutes long. They're so short.
Monica (:And they're pretty short and they're still good. It's just, it's like the pilot season and very low budget. They weren't really sure if it was even gonna make it. And so after that, they dove in hard and it's really funny.
Ashley (:I even still now, now that I've watched it like seven times, the first season is good. anyways, are you deflecting? Why aren't we talking about Twilight still? How did you how did you move us off of Twilight? What page in the first book are you on?
Monica (:I do too. I am deflecting.
Nicole (:Yes, she is deflecting. She's the master deflector. Yeah, no, excuse me. Come on.
Monica (:It's what I do. I think I'm in chapter six.
Ashley (:Mmm.
Nicole (:damn, I have catching up to do.
Monica (:Yeah, I think I'm in chapter six. So I just finished where like she's about to pass out in biology class and he drives her home and then her truck like mysteriously comes back. So that's where I left off. So Edward's growing on me. He chuckles a little bit too much, but he's growing on me.
Ashley (:Mmm.
Mm -hmm.
Nicole (:Ooh, OK. OK.
I am reading Midnight Sun while she reads Twilight and I am very far behind. I need to kick it into high gear. I just finished chapter one today. Whoops.
Monica (:Yeah, but I have a thing where like I hate when authors use the same like descriptive word too many times and chuckled is this one like Edward does nothing but fucking chuckles
Ashley (:Really? Wow, I can't.
Kelsie (:I also re - am re -reading it and now I am very upset with you because now I'm gonna hyper focus on every time she says chuckled so thank you for that.
Ashley (:no, you're gonna be triggered. You know what, cross it out and write a different
Nicole (:no.
Ashley (:synonym in its place. well.
Monica (:book I can't.
this.
Nicole (:I'm offended. I'm offended. She said I was not going to spend any on this. I will. Yes, come on.
Kelsie (:You're gonna regret that when you want the whole series, cause you're gonna love it.
Ashley (:Yup. Yup.
Monica (:We will see, we will see, we will see. I will, I just, I don't know. Like I figured it had to be at least a decent book because everybody was reading it, everyone loved it. But then it just became like the obsession. And I don't know, I just, I think I saw too many movie clips too by the time I was like, will I read the book, will I not? And then I saw the movie clips and I was like, nope.
Kelsie (:So what were your preconceived notions about it?
Monica (:That's a big no. I'm not gonna do that. So I think the movie really like did it in.
Nicole (:What did you think it was about?
Ashley (:Well, yeah.
Monica (:I mean, I feel like I've seen enough to know that it's about a vampire, obviously, or a campfire. Is it a campfire? Freaking typos.
Nicole (:A campfire. That's a campfire. Goddamn autocorrect. No, what? Well, no. I mean, I tried to type vampire, but my sausage fingers, they hit campfire. And what I mean is autocorrect didn't do its job. It failed me. It didn't know that I was saying.
Ashley (:Mm -hmm
No, I thought you said it was just you typing campfire. Don't play autocorrect now.
yeah. it didn't know that you were trying to save him. She sent a text to the group chat that said campfire diaries, and we just like fucking lost it.
Nicole (:BAM.
Ashley (:You
Monica (:and recording. We're done.
Nicole (:See you and goodbye.
Monica (:my gosh. Yeah, okay. So to answer your question though, I don't know. think going into it, the plot that I know is obviously like he's a vampire. She's not. Eventually they have a baby. That's as much as I know. I don't know. I've seen clips of a baby.
Nicole (:Do they? No, just kidding. Do they, boo? My baby. You lost the plot. There's no plot. They just have a baby.
Ashley (:man, I feel like there's so much you don't know.
Interesting, baby.
Kelsie (:You basically lost the whole plot in there that you skipped right to the end.
Ashley (:Yeah.
Kelsie (:They're just, yeah.
Monica (:He pisses some people off, she's forbidden, she has to be conflicted by that, does she die? I don't know, those are all my questions.
Nicole (:Okay, okay, okay, okay. Man, it gets good. I'm telling you, book two, book two is my favorite. New Moon is my absolute favorite of the whole series. No, you will make it that far. It's non -negotiable. Sorry. This isn't correct. You have to finish the series.
Ashley (:home.
Kelsie (:Okay. Okay.
Monica (:Kelsey's face right now.
We'll see if I make it that far.
Ashley (:god you will, stop it. You have a homework assignment. This is an assignment. You have to finish the series.
Kelsie (:You absolutely will.
As I said before I don't have any doubts in my mind that you won't be invested in this when you're all when it's all said and done
Ashley (:Yeah, I think you're still you're you're you're fighting it. You're clearly fighting it.
Nicole (:Yes.
Kelsie (:You're fighting it.
Nicole (:You are.
Also, I want to say you're very focused on Edward when there's an entire other character.
Ashley (:Well, she's focused on Edward because she loves him. She is already in love with him. She's just not. She's reluctant.
Nicole (:already, but there's already that there's like, there's so there's so much more to the book because there's an entire other character that we are not gonna talk about. I'm just gonna let you
Monica (:He's just chuckling too much. He's got my attention.
Well, yeah, but I, okay, but I'm also probably very much not focusing on Bella, if that's what you're referencing, because I'm trying not to think about Kristen Stewart. Okay, well, who's the other character? well then you can, well then you can.
Nicole (:No. No. I'm not telling you. You need to read the book. Thank you, Kelsey. Thank you.
Kelsie (:No.
Ashley (:Yeah, Kristen Stewart.
Kelsie (:Well, you'll get there. Because there's a whole plot that you apparently don't know exists.
Monica (:Six chapters in, six chapters in.
Nicole (:Read the book. That other character, think, has already made an appearance by now. So just read the book. Anyway.
Ashley (:Definitely.
Monica (:Fine, I am trying to keep an open mind, but it is kind of a funny thing about like...
Kelsie (:He actually has not made an appearance yet. He just appeared where I'm at. He just appeared where I'm at.
Nicole (:Not, not really? truck? Well, no, she mentioned the truck. Thank you.
Monica (:Well, wait, isn't it the werewolf dude? It's the werewolf dude, right?
Kelsie (:But it's in the movie, he doesn't actually show up in the book with the truck in the beginning. Because I thought that too. And then he just showed up for the first time in the book where I'm at.
Nicole (:so just like the timeline of the book and the time of the movie, not correct. OK, got you. Got you, got you. Got it.
Kelsie (:Yes.
Ashley (:Typical.
Monica (:Well, okay, spoilers, because Alice was supposed to bring the truck back, so what the heck are you guys talking about?
Nicole (:nothing, nothing. Forget it. Don't we'll just quiet ourselves now. Thank you. Can we talk about Alice really quick? Alice. Alice is my favorite character. No, just I'm not going to tell you anything about her other than the fact that she's my favorite character. And when I was like 15, 16, I had that kind of like same haircut that she has in the movie and I really wanted to be her and I thought I was her. And that's it. I just love her. I did. I was.
Kelsie (:you
Ashley (:Okay, we need to move on before we give away.
Monica (:No, because I don't know Alice.
Ashley (:I was her. In my delusion, I was Alice.
Kelsie (:you
Nicole (:And my delusion, I was her. Well, everybody else wanted to be Bella. I wanted to be Alice. I wasn't obsessed with Bella. was obsessed. Rosalie. I love Rosalie. But not till later because.
Monica (:And these are the things that caused my aversion.
Kelsie (:I mean, Rosalie.
Ashley (:Ha
Yeah.
Kelsie (:She's a... You actually probably have more of Rosalie energy to be honest.
Nicole (:I do, I'm not nice.
Ashley (:Because she's kind of a bitch.
Monica (:my goodness.
Kelsie (:She's, but deep down she's good -hearted. She just has a hard shell. Well, maybe she's you, Ashley.
Nicole (:She is. She's just... Well then that should more... I was gonna say that's more of Ashley. I'm not really a hard shell person. just... Anyway.
Ashley (:Yes, that's true.
Monica (:my goodness. Well, I am trying to keep an open mind to see if I enjoy it, but it does make me laugh because I feel like there's so many things like this, like the cop too, where I start out really hating it. And then later on I'm like, well, maybe. And it's usually with things that are trendy, like right now crew cut socks, Kelsey's hair.
Ashley (:Moving on.
Nicole (:Moving right along.
Mm -hmm.
Kelsie (:my middle part that I refuse to ever have.
Monica (:Right?
Nicole (:I got on that train really quick. I did not fight the middle part train.
Kelsie (:no, I've.
Monica (:Yeah, I hate it. My postpartum hair. I'm not a fan of the middle part right now. I want to be, but I cannot. But like, I feel like any new trends that come out for whatever reason, I just have like such a resistance to it. Crew cut socks? No, I want my ankle socks. Stop, I'm not old.
Nicole (:I love the middle part. I love me in middle part.
No. Wait.
Ashley (:Hmm. I really prefer the crew cut socks. I'm pumped about that one. Yep.
Nicole (:Can you see my feet?
Monica (:See, I don't mind them s -
Kelsie (:I loved low rise jeans when they started going out. I'm like, no.
Nicole (:Eww! Eww! Get away from me! Yes. I don't love them now.
Monica (:I loved them, I loved them then, I don't love them now.
Ashley (:I did like them at that age. Yes, for now, no. Mm -hmm, yes.
Kelsie (:Yeah, I don't once I've now I love everything high rise like give it to me high rise, but I did not understand why everyone was such a hater on the low rise when they started going out. I'm like, I love them.
Monica (:Yeah.
Same, I was very sad when they started to go. And then same thing with like when the skinny James came in, I hated them and now I miss them.
Nicole (:Ugh.
I didn't hate them, but I think I was a very emo kid and that was like the staple. So I feel like I was wearing skinny jeans before everybody was wearing skinny jeans. Not to sound like one of those people. Yeah, ooh, I did it before it was cool. No, but that's just was like how it was.
Monica (:Yeah.
Kelsie (:Mm -hmm.
Monica (:Yeah.
Ashley (:trendsetter.
Monica (:Were you?
you
Ashley (:Now I look back and I'm like, wait, skinny jeans are actually not very flattering. And I think it's the same thing with the low rise. I think I did like them back in the day. They looked better. But now that I have more curves and things, I'm like, you know what, actually, I don't think the skinny jeans are doing anything for me at all.
Nicole (:No.
Monica (:Yeah. I liked them when I had a pre -mombod.
Nicole (:Yeah.
Monica (:No. Yeah.
Nicole (:I'm like that with words. I like to use like words. Okay. Yes, you know like like the the youth of today and they're their words so like yeah, yeah, yeah words. I Period. I like that one, but I used to I didn't at first no, okay I don't like no cap. I'm not for no cap, but but when no I'm not for is either but when lit No, don't you don't you start with? Hey, Ohio is for lovers
Ashley (:It's not the vibe.
What?
Monica (:Words?
Ashley (:Other language. Period.
Monica (:yeah.
Kelsie (:No cap.
Ashley (:yeah.
Kelsie (:rizz
Monica (:skibidi
Ashley (:I you.
Kelsie (:Ohio.
Ashley (:Wait, you guys are speaking a different language to me.
Nicole (:Ohio is for lovers.
Kelsie (:No, that's apparently, no, apparently Ohio is slang for bad now or something like that.
Nicole (:Yeah, I know, but that's why, and that's why I'm saying Ohio is for lovers and all my emo kids will know what I mean when I say Ohio is for lovers. Anyway, lit and yeet. I used to use them ironically and now they are part of my actual vocabulary. I say yeet, I literally say yeet all the time. I'm yeet myself out of this building right now. I say yeet all the fucking time. And it's cause I'll start off using them ironically, ironically, what's the right word? I don't know.
Monica (:What?
Ashley (:was gonna say who just used Yeet the other day.
Monica (:Yeah, you do.
Nicole (:But I'll start using them as a, yeah, okay, I'll start using them ironically and just be like, ho, yeet, yeet, yeet, skirt, yeet. And now I actually talk like that. I love skirt. I say it, literally say it in sentences. Let me skirt over this way.
Monica (:Ironically, probably, yeah.
Ashley (:Scream.
Kelsie (:I use YOLO more than I'm proud to admit, so...
Nicole (:YOLO.
Ashley (:I think that's the opposite issue. That's old slang. That's not new slang. I think you're showing your age when you say YOLO.
Nicole (:Yeah, no, you're living in the past.
Monica (:you
Kelsie (:Well, I mean, when it first came, when that first became slang, was, was like, my God, like, now I use it and I'm an old timer when I use it. It's like, is so cringe, cheugy (these words are dumb) or whatever that word is.
Nicole (:Yellow, stupid, like, yeah.
Monica (:Mm -hmm.
Ashley (:Yeah, you know what? It's kind of embarrassing. It's kind of embarrassing.
Nicole (:It is, but it's okay. It's fine. what? Ew, don't say that. I don't like that word. I didn't like that. lechewgee.
Monica (:Mm -hmm. Mm -hmm.
I don't like that one.
Kelsie (:That's like the word for cringe, think. Yeah, chuggy or something like blonde is chuggy or side parts are chuggy. don't know. This is getting out of hand. Somebody with young kids will know what I'm talking about. I know. I'm probably not even saying it right.
Ashley (:No, what?
Nicole (:Ugh.
Monica (:my gosh.
Ashley (:We need a translator.
Nicole (:You need a drink?
Ashley (:damn. I don't know what's happening right now. What are we talking about?
Nicole (:We're talking about things that... Yeah, we're talking about how old we are.
Monica (:how old we're getting.
Kelsie (:things that we fought, frozen. When I heard that it was like her whole thing was like, can't marry a man. The man won't save you. That's not true love. Whatever the premise was, I was like, I'm not watching that. This is like a feminist. Granted, like...
Monica (:Yeah. yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
Kelsie (:I promise I probably am pretty feminist, but like I was like, this is like some feminist bull crap. Like it's a Disney princess movie. They can have romance. And then when I finally gave it and watched it, I was like, my gosh, this is the best movie ever. need to shut my mouth.
Ashley (:you
Nicole (:This is the best movie ever. I watched that like way, way before I had kids. I did not. I loved Frozen.
Kelsie (:I did fight it for a long time though.
Monica (:Yeah, I felt frozen for long time too.
Ashley (:I don't know that I've avoided anything and then I'm very stubborn. So I think if I was like really hell bent avoiding something, I don't know.
Nicole (:Yeah, same.
Monica (:Well that's how I felt with Twilight. It was like, it's how many years now? I've like dug my heels in. I was like, nope, it's settled Until you bitches came along.
Nicole (:a good it's a good 15 years that it's you're welcome you will not be sorry you might be sorry when we watch the first movie because the first movie is awful but it gets better after that one it doesn't matter it does shut up no it does I'm not I'm
Ashley (:You're welcome.
Monica (:you
Ashley (:But once you're in love with the book, I think it's fine. Yeah, it's fine that it sucks.
Monica (:Does it! Does it!
Kelsie (:It is, it's why the movies were so successful because the people were so invested in the books. It didn't matter how they were. Yeah. The last movie is the best. So.
Monica (:Were they? I know they were.
Ashley (:Yeah. Yes, they were. They were and still are.
Nicole (:Monica.
The last movie is the best. You guys know the scene. If I could watch the scene over, would.
Ashley (:Yeah. Start getting their shit together.
Monica (:Alright, well, I will, I will keep pushing through. Actually, no, I don't, I don't mind it as much. I do like her writing style, so I can definitely finish it. But I will, I will finish this book before our trip so we can watch the movie together. Yes.
Ashley (:we'll be updating the listeners.
Nicole (:And then so that we can move on to our next book, because we already have another book in waiting. We are starting a book club.
Monica (:Yes. Yeah, so sorry. I know you I know you guys joined the podcast to listen to a bunch of other crap, but now it's a book club. So welcome.
Kelsie (:We're basically starting a book club.
Nicole (:Welcome. If you guys want to read the books with us, please go ahead. I mean, we're starting with Twilight, clearly. Next, I think is Mistborn, because Monica are already one book deep on the Mistborn series, and Monica and I are on book two. You have to.
Ashley (:What else are we reading? What else are we reading? Tell them.
Monica (:Yeah, we gotta finish the Mistborn series. Mm -hmm.
Ashley (:I haven't started it yet. I've been stuck on fourth wing. I think I have like two hours left of fourth wing. I'll probably finish today.
Nicole (:Okay, we'll hurry it up. It's two hours. Okay, get it together.
Monica (:Come on.
Kelsie (:And then we're gonna do Akitar after that.
Nicole (:Yeah, because I'm already one book deep on that. I'm already one book deep on that.
Monica (:I know nothing of that one.
I've heard the title, but I don't -
Ashley (:Are you guys reading them or are listening to them?
Monica (:reading. have a weird thing, okay so I have a weird thing where with books when I finish a book I feel so satisfied and I'm like yes I finished it. I read all the words.
Nicole (:I listened to Akatar because it's free on Audible.
I did it!
Ashley (:and you don't get that satisfaction if you audio book it. that's silly.
Monica (:into the audiobook and like it doesn't count.
Nicole (:I do.
It does. You're so funny.
Ashley (:That's so silly. I'd never, I couldn't finish a book. I'd never be able to finish a book if I was reading the physical book. I have to listen to it.
Nicole (:This is why, this is why I'm -
Monica (:I know, and there's nothing wrong with it. It's like story time. you're like, it's story time.
Ashley (:It's really fun. It makes me more productive. Because I'll be like, I want to listen to my book, but I have to do something with my hands. So I'm like, well, I guess I'm doing the dishes and listening to a book now.
Nicole (:It's.
Mm -hmm. I like it because
Monica (:I mean, it makes sense, it totally does, but I just, don't feel the satisfaction.
Ashley (:If I didn't have young kids, I would like to open a book and read it too, but that's just not in the agenda.
Monica (:Listen, turning that last page, turning that last page and closing the book and you're like, it's so good.
Nicole (:Ha
Kelsie (:I have to read usually after they go to bed. Did you get Layla, Monica? I think it's Kindle Unlimited if you have that. I think it's free or it was for a long time.
Monica (:No, Barnes and Noble didn't have it. So it's on the list. Okay, I'll look. Yeah. See, but that's another one. I love the idea of Kindle, but I want to flip the pages. It's not satisfying. I will read it on Kindle. do have one, but it's just, I don't know. The book is so satisfying. I know that there's people in Book Tok and stuff who are totally on board with me on that.
Ashley (:I've never got into Kindle.
Kelsie (:Order it on Amazon then.
Nicole (:See ya.
Kelsie (:It is satisfying. It is very satisfying when you finish your big book.
Monica (:Yeah.
Ashley (:I'd rather read a paper book than a Kindle. I will say that. Kindle feels weird to me.
Kelsie (:Yeah.
Monica (:Yeah,
Nicole (:I'm a podcast girly, so like the audio books are amazing for me because I love a good podcast. I listen to podcasts all the freaking time and I, lot of the times don't have the attention span to read like a physical book, with my children running around all crazy. So the audio books have, have really been a game changer for me, for sure.
Ashley (:Yeah.
Monica (:Mm -hmm.
Ashley (:Yeah.
Monica (:Yeah, that does definitely help. And I think part of it too, like now that I am reading more, it's because my kids are a little bit older, so they're playing on their own and kind of doing their own stuff, so I can read, but it's usually after they go to bed if I'm reading.
Nicole (:Mm -hmm.
Ashley (:Yeah.
Kelsie (:Wait, wait, wait one more thing. Okay before we before we move on Monica I want to know I want you to make some predictions about what you think is gonna happen in Twilight. She's dying. Hold on
Nicole (:that's good.
Ashley (:She's choking on her goblet of coffee.
Nicole (:Hahaha!
Monica (:Not...
Ashley (:She has the biggest coffee cup you guys have ever seen.
Nicole (:Okay, Monica, my God, make your prediction, Monica, make your predictions, and then I wanna follow up with something because I.
Monica (:bigger one and it has Hedwig on it okay?
for the first book or for this series?
Kelsie (:Just for do the first book. Let's just say do the first book.
Ashley (:Whatever. Whatever.
Nicole (:Yeah, for the first book, yeah.
Monica (:Okay, well, obviously, she has to discover that he's a vampire. Right? Like that has obviously, obviously, that has to happen. The relationship has to build. There's obviously something he's not supposed to be doing because he made comments about that, right. And then I think she has to come to terms with whether or not she wants to be with a quote unquote bad guy.
Kelsie (:We're not going to tell you, just make your predictions.
Nicole (:Duh.
Ashley (:Yeah, don't ask questions. It's a prediction.
Nicole (:I'm just gonna roll my eyes.
Ashley (:Mmm, bad boys.
Nicole (:What you gonna do? What you gonna do when they come?
Monica (:Yeah, just, think, I don't think that the first book can go too far because obviously there's like more books. No, okay. Okay, too far in the sense of like, I think that they're gonna be in a relationship somehow and they're, I think that there's gonna be people who are very, very against it. But that's as much as I got. I don't know who's going to be against it. Because apparently I'm missing a character.
Ashley (:you
Nicole (:Me and Ashley, me Kelsey just made the same face.
Ahem.
Ashley (:Hmm. Hmm.
Nicole (:I cannot wait.
Kelsie (:Well, a lot of characters, but yeah.
Monica (:And I do know from clips that there is, I think the werewolf dude who, because Taylor Lautner, right? And that he's another conflict in there. I know that, I know that happens, but I don't know to what extent.
Kelsie (:Mm -hmm.
Nicole (:Ugh, yummy.
Ashley (:Yep.
Nicole (:Mmm.
Ashley (:I wish I had never read Twilight and was reading it for the first time. This is so exciting. I'm living vicariously through you. You don't even know Taylor Lautner's name in the book. God. It's crazy.
Kelsie (:I know, I know.
Nicole (:Me too! my gosh, me too! I love this!
Monica (:No, I think I do, but I can't think of it right now. But I think I do.
Nicole (:Okay.
Okay, so we've made fun of her for not reading Twilight, but I have never, I've seen them, but I've never read all of the Harry Potters. I have never ever read the Harry Potters. And I am from that generation and I've never read them. I did see them, but.
Monica (:Shut up.
Ashley (:that's criminal.
Kelsie (:Listen, I'm not gonna shit on you because I didn't read them until I was an adult. So.
Nicole (:Okay, see, and I didn't see all the movies until I was an adult. I saw up to number three, and then I stopped caring. But I did watch them all this year, and I will say I am obsessed with them, so I want to read the books. It's just a big, it's a big, it's a hefty series, though, so I need to like be able to get into it.
Kelsie (:You should they're so good
Monica (:Read the book Read the book
Ashley (:Yeah, they're so good. But if you audio book it, if you audio book it, you're going to be so invested. It'll be so good. Yeah, you're going to love it. You're really going to love it. I actually wait. You're I don't I don't want to offend you, but it kind of gives me the ick when people say they like Harry Potter and they haven't read the books. I hate that so much. Yes, that's what I feel like. But the movies are good.
Monica (:It is.
Nicole (:my gosh, that's such a good idea. I really should audiobook it.
Kelsie (:Mm -hmm. You should. Yeah, it's so much better.
Monica (:Yeah, we.
Nicole (:that's funny. But I will specify. No, no, no, no. And I will specify and say I like the movies. Yeah, I'm obsessed with the movies. They are so good. The movies are really, really, really good. I am, I'm gonna say I'm a fan of the movies. I'm not gonna say I'm a Harry Potter fan, but I'm a fan of the movies.
Monica (:Same here, because it's like, you're not a true fan.
They are good.
Ashley (:It makes sense. It does make sense. No, they are. Yeah.
Kelsie (:Yeah.
Monica (:It's one of the few, yeah, it's one of the few book series.
Ashley (:You will be once you read it though.
Nicole (:Right, I'll be official when I read it. I'll be a real fan. I'm just a little bit of a faker. It's OK. I'm just trying to fit in with you guys. That's all.
Ashley (:Mm -hmm. You'll be a real fan when you read it. Right now you're a bit of a poser.
Kelsie (:Guys, if you could kindly shut the fuck up so Monica can get some
Ashley (:Does she have something important to say?
Kelsie (:Yeah, she tried to say it three times.
Ashley (:I'm sorry, my god.
she's giggling. She's chuckling. She's never going to be able to stop chuckling. It's absolutely silent.
Nicole (:She's chuckling.
Kelsie (:She's chuckling
Nicole (:This is our reel all over again. They will see it. They will see it in YouTube. Go watch the YouTube.
Ashley (:wish you guys could see her, she's just fucking crying.
Kelsie (:Mm.
Ashley (:my god. It's too much. Monica, you have the floor.
Monica (:It's just really funny.
Kelsie (:She started to say it like three times. She got cut off every time.
Nicole (:didn't even hear anything. I literally didn't -
Ashley (:You were paying close attention, Kelsey.
Kelsie (:because I was thinking about saying exactly what she and then she started to say it and I was like Monica's gonna say what I was gonna say so I'll let Monica say it but then she got cut off
Ashley (:Me and Nicole just won't shut the fuck up.
Kelsie (:You guys just...
Nicole (:didn't even hear her, like, or see her trying to speak. Like, we can't...
Ashley (:I didn't either. I was in my own world.
Kelsie (:You guys were, you didn't even notice when she like dropped to the floor and...
Monica (:Thank
Nicole (:I noticed that.
Ashley (:I'm
Nicole (:Monica, get your shit together and speak your words.
Ashley (:Yeah, please tell us. We're dying to know what was so important.
Monica (:tissue.
Kelsie (:She...
Nicole (:Obviously we can't.
Kelsie (:She was trying to say that the books are some of the, they're one of the few franchises that did really good movies. Like, like, like Twilight, we could all agree that their movies were kind of cringy. Harry Potter did it very well, even though they, there are a lot of differences from the movie to the book. They still did the movies very well to where they created a ton of fans that who never read the book, but don't care.
Monica (:Thank you.
Ashley (:yes.
Yes.
Monica (:Yeah.
Yeah.
Nicole (:Yes.
Ashley (:Yeah, yeah. Because there's, yeah. There's probably no fans of Twilight, just the movies, right? Do those people exist? I don't think so.
Monica (:Yes, exactly.
Nicole (:Literally. I am an absolute fan of the movies. I love them. They're done so well.
Monica (:I don't know.
Nicole (:sure by now because
Kelsie (:I bet you there are, but they were built in that time when it was such a hype that no one thought it was cringe back then. Nobody knew probably.
Ashley (:Mm
Monica (:Yeah.
Yeah.
Nicole (:My favorite thing to come of the Twilight cringe is the girl, think her name is like Yasmin or something. She makes reels and TikToks and whatever of Jasper. She has like this wig that looks like very bad Jasper's hair. Yeah, I don't know, but she makes this face, like she, the Jasper face, which Monica, you'll see when you watch the movies, but it cracks me up if you guys.
Ashley (:Ahem.
Monica (:Is that the one you guys sent this morning?
Nicole (:I'm gonna have to find it and I'll send it to you guys because it's the funniest shit ever and that's my favorite thing to come out of Twilight is everybody making fun of Jasper's uncomfortable face in the movies.
Ashley (:You
Nicole (:Anyway.
Monica (:Okay,
Okay.
So we need to introduce our first official segment that we have now for our listeners. So we gave you a little hint to it earlier, but welcome to the new segment of the Petty Paddy Wagon. I am so excited. There it is, there it is.
Nicole (:Let's do it. Yay, yay, yo.
Ashley (:Yay.
Nicole (:Wee woo wee
Ashley (:We wait because we're on the petty patrol. We are the petty patrol.
Nicole (:Petty Patrol, Petty Paddy, we are the petty police.
Monica (:right? Like every every group chat has this right where there's at least a little bit of pettiness. There's at least a little bit of that humor, right? So we just we thought we'd bring it into the podcast a little bit more. So I have actually a little bit of kind of a game ish that we're going to play today. So I was I was going down, you know, the rabbit holes of of Reddit, because why not? We do love it, right?
Nicole (:Ooh.
That's our favorite place.
Monica (:And so we're gonna play a little bit of a game of do we match this pettyness? So today's topic is Petty reasons for a breakup so buckle up some of these are really funny so I'm curious actually before we do that do any of you have a petty reason for a breakup?
Nicole (:Okay.
Ashley (:Okay.
Nicole (:Mmm. Got you.
No.
Ashley (:I don't either.
Monica (:I don't think I really do either.
Ashley (:We've all been with our husbands for a really long time.
Nicole (:actually I, I did break up.
Monica (:Like, we can go back to middle school, because some of these stories are from young years, and they're funny too.
Ashley (:Well...
Nicole (:I broke up with a guy because he cried all the time. Like all the time. Like literally I would breathe into in the direction of another male human and he would cry. I don't think he's ever gonna listen to this, but yeah, it was a lot. I just couldn't. was like, my God. ew, ew.
Ashley (:Mmm, I don't think that's petty.
No, my high school boyfriend was a cheater, so I don't think that was petty. Yeah.
Monica (:yeah, no, that's not petty. Get him out. Out of here. my gosh.
Nicole (:gross.
Ashley (:I think he's still single. No, me either.
Nicole (:That doesn't shock me. I also broke up with a boy because he couldn't kiss. I was in high school and I was like, you are a really bad kisser. And then I broke up with him. I didn't tell him he was a bad kisser though. didn't, yeah, it's like, that's the only reasons like, I don't think I can, I don't think I had like a petty reason to break up with somebody. It's yeah, it's media mean girl.
Monica (:I mean...
Ashley (:That's medium level petty.
Monica (:Medium.
Kelsie (:think that's entirely petty it's just
Monica (:Not entirely.
Ashley (:No, it's not entirely. It's a little bit petty. You could have taught him.
Monica (:Yeah, that's what I was gonna say. Like, you had a choice. You could have taught him. Was it worth the investment? It's okay. Okay. So first one. So he says, I love cooking, especially breakfast foods. She did not like eggs. I'm like, can I really spend the rest of my life with someone who won't be eating eggs with me on weekend mornings when we're old? No, I could not.
Ashley (:You could have practiced.
No, it wasn't. What do you have, Monica? What you got for us?
my god.
Kelsie (:my gosh, Trevor would have dumped me so long ago if this was the make or break. my gosh.
Nicole (:You
Ashley (:Why couldn't she eat something else?
Nicole (:weren't you just talking about this in your stories?
Kelsie (:Yes, I was just talking about this in my stories. I don't I'm not a breakfast food person. I'm on her side. Good riddance, sir. That is extremely petty. Yeah, why does he have to
Ashley (:I love breakfast food. well, that was, that is very petty. Why couldn't she have had pancakes?
Monica (:Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I like I do. I do understand the sentiment of like wanting to be able to have like those moments together. But like are there not other breakfast options?
Nicole (:That's like.
Or...
Kelsie (:Specifically eggs? Yeah.
Nicole (:Bitch, it's breakfast. Eat whatever you want. He is an egg weirdo. My husband's an egg weirdo.
Ashley (:Yeah, no, he's an egg weirdo. That is weird.
Monica (:My favorite though was somebody's comment that said, egg -cellent choice.
Kelsie (:A lot of people have an egg ick and it's like eggs are good, but like halfway through eggs sometimes they take a bite and I'm like, mm -mm. Yeah.
Nicole (:I have an egg egg.
Monica (:Yeah, especially with scrambled eggs. I'm like, ooh, these are the best eggs ever. And then you take a bite and you're, mm -mm, too eggy.
Nicole (:Yeah.
Kelsie (:Yep, sometimes they're too moist and then sometimes they're too dry. It's just it's a delicate balance.
Nicole (:Mm -hmm. yeah. Yeah.
Ashley (:Yeah, too much egg in this.
Monica (:If it's like too like almost like firm and hard, we're done.
Nicole (:I didn't really like eggs when Justin and I started dating and he actually figured out a way to cook them so that I would like them. And he always, he would go out of his way to make my egg separate from like everybody else's so that I would like them. And that actually got me eating eggs. And I think that was very nice of him in hindsight.
Monica (:Hmm.
Ashley (:Wow, this guy should have taken lessons from Justin. Yeah.
Kelsie (:was very nice.
Nicole (:He should have. Just find ways that you're maybe try to introduce it to your person so that they will like it instead of being a fucking weirdo. No, I think she dodged a bullet there. She dodged a bullet for sure.
Kelsie (:Mm -hmm.
Monica (:Mm -hmm. Mm -hmm. Mm -hmm.
Yeah. Yeah. Okay, so we do not match this petty ears. Yeah, for sure. All right, so next one. He got a haircut. It looked so bad. I realized I wasn't actually attracted to him and just liked the attention.
Ashley (:No, no, he's weird.
Nicole (:No, because I could actually, once upon a time, relate to that, okay? I had a thing for guys with long hair, and once they cut their hair, I was like, mm, I'm out. Once they cut their hair, I was like, sorry, no. yeah. -huh.
Ashley (:That's funny.
Monica (:You
Well, I mean, they were it was in.
Well, I feel like especially in high school and stuff because longer hair was popular. Like if they cut it, all of a sudden they looked like a little boy and you're like, mm.
Ashley (:No, that's like right now with it, like facial hair, like beards.
Nicole (:Or you realize they have like a... My thing was like you realize they have like massive foreheads or something and they just look... I'm kidding. I'm joking. But I actually... No, I'm joking about that being the reason why I would break up with him. But I dated this guy in middle school who had a really big forehead.
Kelsie (:She's totally not joking.
Monica (:They're not.
Nicole (:And he had like the long swoopy hair so that he could hide it. But we all knew he had a really big forehead. So we would still kind of like make fun of him for it. It's like the whole thing. And he was obviously, he was insecure about it at the time. He seems like he still liked me even though I have a big forehead. And I was like, actually, I do. But his hair covered it most of the time.
Monica (:my gosh.
Kelsie (:I don't know if I necessarily agree with that girl because you obviously were somewhat attracted to him before he cut it so it's not like he's not entirely unattractive to you. You just don't like the haircut. I don't think that's like...
Nicole (:It was the hair.
Monica (:Mm -hmm. Yeah.
Ashley (:It's too petty. Yeah. Also, flip the script if it was a woman that got her haircut and then a guy dumped her because he didn't like the haircut, everyone would be pissed. So.
Monica (:It's kind of penny, because hair grows back. Hair is not a permanent choice.
Nicole (:I don't know. It is petty.
Kelsie (:Yeah.
Monica (:Yeah
Kelsie (:Yeah.
Monica (:Yes. Yes.
Nicole (:Very Very true. I'm for it. You want to break up with someone because you don't like their haircut? OK. I mean, do whatever you want. It's not that serious yet. I agree. Yes. Right.
Kelsie (:I mean, it's not that serious, but...
Ashley (:you
Monica (:Although it sounds like he kind of dodged the bullet there because it's like, well, if all she realized is she wanted attention, then that relationship is not going very deep.
Nicole (:No, no, no, no, no. He dodges a bullet on that one for sure. Funny though.
Kelsie (:Yeah.
Ashley (:Yeah.
Monica (:sure. Okay.
Okay, here's here's going back to middle school. In eighth grade, a girl broke up with me for selling her Reese's cup for $1. She really did not appreciate the gross profit in the transaction and now she get by to her Reese's cups. I tried
Nicole (:you
Ashley (:You
Monica (:I tried really hard to argue I didn't really sell her Reese's cup but rather doubled the number of candies she had. well, that was a two week market anyways, time to move on.
Ashley (:You
Kelsie (:Listen, you can't when a girl is hangry or excited about a treat you cannot be it doesn't all rationale goes out the window
Monica (:You
Ashley (:Kelsey, it's hangry.
Nicole (:was yep
Out the window when we are, yeah. Sorry.
Ashley (:That's really true, actually. That's very true. Because where was the Reese's Cup right then?
Kelsie (:It is. Ask me when I sobbed in the Walmart parking lot the other day.
Monica (:It is true. It is true. Right, Kelsey had a moment this week.
Nicole (:Right. Yep.
Kelsie (:food is serious.
Ashley (:But Trevor recognized it. He recognized the hanger. And he fed you. I thought he did.
Monica (:Yeah, he came back with snacks. Good job. he didn't! Trevor!
Kelsie (:No, he didn't come back with snacks. No, no. So the anger festered on for a long car ride. And I think he realized like, shit, like this is actually like, then he was like, yeah, I'm getting you Chick -fil -A put in your order. And I'm like, okay.
Nicole (:Yes.
you
Ashley (:and then you went to Chick -fil -A.
Monica (:Alright, that's...
Nicole (:cheek fully? okay. That's... Mm -hmm.
Ashley (:That's what Patrick says about me too, that I'll just get happy when like I know food is like coming. Yeah.
Monica (:Mm -hmm.
Kelsie (:My blood sugar instinctively started rising whenever he mentioned it.
Nicole (:Literally. You can already taste it. You're like, yes. Justin brings me home a Snickers. It does solve your problem. Justin always brings me home Snickers anytime he goes to the gas station at all for any reason. He'll just bring me a Snickers because he knows that I'm a hangry monster 97 % of the time. And you're not you when you're hungry.
Kelsie (:Yeah, yeah.
Ashley (:Yeah.
Monica (:Right? Sometimes food really does solve your problems.
Ashley (:You
Kelsie (:Mm
Monica (:That's hilarious. Right?
Ashley (:That's true.
Monica (:Okay, hang on,
Hahaha
Sorry, just reading it makes me laugh.
Nicole (:Get it together, Monica.
Monica (:way too giggly for a podcast. It's just. Yeah, yeah. It's just how they wrote it, okay.
Nicole (:She can't, she can't. No, this is perfect. This is literally, literally.
Kelsie (:I knew I was right, choosing you as the giggly -est.
Ashley (:Yeah
Nicole (:my god.
Monica (:Okay. So this one is, fucker showed up at my door wearing cowboy boots.
Ashley (:That's it? That's all of it?
Monica (:It's like the fucker showed up in cowboy boots
Kelsie (:The fucker got me. I was like no wonder she couldn't say it.
Ashley (:you
Damn.
Nicole (:Not a reason, no. Are you kidding? If a fucker showed up, mm -mm.
Kelsie (:my god. That's not a good reason. Although I will say there is certainly a brand of showing up in cowboy boots. Like there are some people, especially in like, where I'm from. And like I've been in a lot of hick towns and stuff. Like when you like walk around wearing like basketball shorts and cowboy boots, like, it's not really my jam. It's not my style. But if he's just showing up in actual like jeans and cowboy boots, like an actual like outfit, my
Ashley (:There's many women who would argue.
Monica (:No.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Nicole (:Excuse me? That's a crime.
Oof!
Monica (:Yeah.
Kelsie (:Gosh, that is not an ick. No, sorry.
Monica (:Yeah, if he's dressed up, that can be okay.
Nicole (:No, would, we wouldn't have been leaving the house. We would not have been leaving the house. We would have been.
Ashley (:You
Kelsie (:If he was wearing like a wife beater and basketball shorts and cowboy boots then absolutely I match your petty. But if he's showing up just like actually wearing cowboy boots in a good way then yeah.
Nicole (:Yeah, yeah.
Monica (:Yeah.
Ashley (:I've never, I...
Nicole (:Dress normal in cowboy boots? boy, it's on. It's on.
Monica (:Yeah, my favorite though, my favorite is the comment below it and ruined your black tie affair, Garth Brooks.
Ashley (:Wow, yeah, I've never considered the basketball shorts.
Hehehehehe
Kelsie (:Are we allowed to say that? Blame it all on my roots. I showed up in boots.
Nicole (:And clearly she said it's over and poor guy. Bye
Monica (:Roots showed up boots
one of my favorites is, it was inconvenient to park at a apartment complex.
Nicole (:Valid. Valid. That sucks for her, but valid. Honestly though, parking, I didn't start driving until quite late. I didn't start driving until I was like 19. And parking sometimes even as an adult still gives me anxiety depending on what the parking situation is. like, don't, you know, if there's, if I'm going somewhere I...
Monica (:That does suck for her.
Kelsie (:That sucks for her, but I mean, you probably don't want him if he's not willing to put in that effort.
Monica (:Mm -hmm. Yeah.
Kelsie (:That's frustrating though.
Monica (:Yeah, I hate parking.
Nicole (:have to kind of figure out what the parking situation is before like I commit to going. So I can kind of understand that.
Kelsie (:Yeah, me too.
Monica (:Mm -hmm. Same. Mm -hmm.
Ashley (:yeah, I know other people like that. They won't go places. I have some friends that won't go places if like the parking situation is too precarious.
Monica (:Mm -hmm.
Nicole (:Yeah.
Kelsie (:of my friends was going, it was just yesterday, she was telling me she was going to this party and she's like, this other team invited us to the kickball team and like invited our team and she was like, I wasn't going to go, but I convinced myself to go to try to like immerse myself and meet some people, whatever. And then she got there. She drove 30 minutes. She got there and she was like, there wasn't like, there wasn't like a ton of parking and I didn't recognize any of the cars.
Monica (:Yeah.
Kelsie (:So I just turned around and left like I made a whole like dip to take and I turned around and left Because my anxiety I just could not she didn't even go inside so she turned around and went 30 minutes back home And I was like yes, I would do that,
Ashley (:You
Monica (:I get that. I get that. I totally get that. Yeah, I can match that.
So the funny thing is multiple times on this thread, there's a dividing line because there were multiple ones that said they didn't use enough emojis. Or on the other side, they used too many emojis. As well as they didn't know Monty Python and they quoted Monty Python too much. There's a line here.
Nicole (:Noooo
Kelsie (:was a reoccurring topic. Wow.
Monica (:You
Kelsie (:I think that would be my break. Just the fact that that is your line you draw, that is a line for me.
Nicole (:That's really funny.
That is so funny because I'm an over emoji user and my husband doesn't really use emojis at all. And then when I was in high school, my high school boyfriend, he quoted Monty Python all the time and I had never seen Monty Python. So I didn't know. just, I was like, okay, it's funny. I don't know what you're talking about, but it's funny. And I just let it go. I didn't see Monty Python until I got way older and I was like, okay. Now I'm, now it all makes.
Ashley (:same.
Monica (:same.
Right?
Nicole (:But that's so funny. I think it's funny. I actually enjoyed Monty Python because I like stupid humor. I'm a 12 year old boy, but.
Kelsie (:Everything I know about Monty Python is against my will.
Monica (:Ha
Ashley (:Yeah, me too.
Monica (:You
Ashley (:I fell asleep during Monty Python, so I've never seen the full thing.
Nicole (:Bro. god. I don't know. That's good.
Monica (:my gosh, we're gonna have people coming at us now, because they're gonna divide their line with us. Can they listen to this podcast or not?
Ashley (:I do, yeah, I can't quote Monty Python and I use too many emojis.
Kelsie (:you
Monica (:I use too many, I can't quote Monty Python, but I've seen Monty Python and I do think it's funny. But same thing, I never really watched it until my husband and he does not use emojis either.
Nicole (:I just think of the one.
Yeah. Yeah, I think it's a dude thing.
Kelsie (:Is Monty Python the we are men men in tights? No, not Monty Python cut this book.
Ashley (:I don't know.
Monica (:Now is that Robin Hood Men In Tights Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Nicole (:No, that's Robin Hood. that's Robin Hood. Same cast, essentially, but...
Kelsie (:Okay.
Okay.
Ashley (:Has Robin Hood come up twice on this podcast? maybe we didn't talk about Robin Hood the first time. That was pre, that was pre -show, we were talking Robin Hood.
Kelsie (:Mm
Nicole (:Yes! No, Robin Hood was prior to us recording.
Kelsie (:Prior to the recording, said we were the We're Robin Hoods of Petty. So go ahead.
