Nicole:This is a peek into our time at the cabin.
Kelsey:That's what I was gonna say.
Kelsey:This is what it's like to be with us.

Ashleigh:For those of you who are not watching, we all have our matching PJ shirts on and our matching sleep eye mask thingies on record like this in real life.
Ashleigh:When we were at the cabin, but a snowstorm decided that we weren't gonna do that, so here we are.
Monica:Yes.
Ashleigh:It's recreating it.
Monica:Yeah.
Monica:Knocked out our Internet, and we had to get creative and just not record.
Ashleigh:We were spiraling.
Nicole:It's kind of sad, because I wish we were all together recording this.
Monica:I know.
Nicole:We'Re all far, far apart.
Monica:Although I do find it rather fitting, because this week in the group chat, we have been very quiet because we went so hard on our trip that we all came home horrendously sick.
Monica:So I feel like it's very fitting that we're all just, like, in our PJ's right now with our stuffy noses and, I mean, I'm running at, like, 80%.
Ashleigh:I don't know where you guys are at.
Kelsey:I technically didn't get sick.
Monica:That's true.
Kelsey:I just had a migraine one day.
Monica:Yes, well, you still got knocked out for a day, but still, I'm jealous.
Monica:I think I would have taken the migraine.
Nicole:I'm also at, like, 80%.
Ashleigh:I think I really was dead to the world, though.
Monica:You really were.
Monica:We missed you all week long.
Monica:Yeah, I don't even think you caught up on, like, half the conversation we did have, which wasn't very much for us.
Ashleigh:I didn't even try, honestly.
Monica:Don't blame him.

Ashleigh:I remember waking up in between one of my fever naps and looking at my phone and seeing 120 notices vacations from you guys.
Ashleigh:And I was like, no, back to.
Monica:Sleep I go, yep, that's exactly what.
Ashleigh:Happened after I threw up.
Nicole:But, yeah, these bitches are talking way too much.
Monica:Well, I have a quick story update kind of following our last episode.
Nicole:Oh, do tell.
Monica:So, Ashley, you were telling us creepy stories about what your kids were doing, right?
Nicole:Yes.
Nicole:I've been haunted by it ever since.
Monica:Yeah, well, I don't know if it's because we decided to watch Ghostbusters last night for Family movie night.
Monica:I'm gonna blame it on that.
Monica:But last night, we finally went to bed, and Merida just would not go to sleep.
Monica:And so, for those of you listening, Merida is my four year old daughter, and normally she's pretty good.
Monica:She'll go to sleep.
Monica:She doesn't have any issues.
Monica:She's very independent.
Monica:But last night, she just, like, kept getting up, like, every five minutes, would need another hug, would need to go to the bathroom, but she's, like, half asleep every time she does this and is groggy.
Monica:And then as she's trying to go back to bed, she was, like, about to lose it and, like, couldn't explain why.
Monica:And I'm like, okay, she's overly tired.
Monica:It's fine.
Monica:Finally, I just, like, put her into bed with me.
Monica:She fell asleep while I'm, like, reading.
Monica:And my poor husband got kicked off to the couch so she could just, like, lay in bed with me.
Monica:Right?
Monica:Well, in the middle of the night, as I'm, like, reading, it's, like, midnight, I'm still reading.
Monica:And she's, like, waking up probably every, like, 15 to 20 minutes and is, like, dead asleep and then sits straight up and points across the room and goes, I don't like that creepy man.
Ashleigh:Excuse me.
Ashleigh:No nightmare fuel.
Monica:And I'm like, there's no one there.
Monica:And she goes, I see him.
Monica:I don't like him.
Monica:I don't want him here.
Monica:And what?
Monica:She's visibly, like, distraught, and I'm like, there's no one here.
Monica:It's okay.
Monica:Go back to sleep.
Monica:Like, I'm scratching her back.
Monica:She falls asleep.
Monica:1520 minutes later, she wakes up again and is, like, the creepy thing over there.
Monica:But she, like, if you could hear her tone of voice, she was so freaked out.
Monica:Like, she.
Monica:I swear she thought she saw something, and it happened at least five times.
Monica:And the descriptions just kept getting more and more detailed.
Ashleigh:No, I hate it.
Monica:Yeah.
Nicole:That is so scary.
Ashleigh:Yeah.
Monica:So it's a good follow up for last week.
Nicole:Thank you.
Nicole:That's worse than mine.
Nicole:I think that's really creepy.
Monica:It was one of those moments where she's, like, looking across the room very clearly looking at something that I can't see.
Ashleigh:I'm gonna throw it.
Nicole:No, don't like it.
Nicole:Did you make your husband come back in?
Nicole:I would have.
Monica:No, he was asleep on the couch, and that was downstairs.
Monica:I'm at 80% now.
Monica:I think I was at 60%.
Nicole:I would have called him.
Nicole:So just kept calling him until he woke up and came upstairs.
Nicole:There may or may not be a creepy man in here.
Nicole:I don't know.
Ashleigh:Sleep with the scary kid.

Kelsey:And she can sleep with the creepy kid.
Kelsey:I'll go to the couch.
Monica:And the thing is, like, she's usually a cuddler.
Monica:Cuddler.
Monica:Like, if she ends up, like, sleeping with me, she's a cuddler.
Monica:But last night, like, she was legit on top of me the entire night.
Monica:Like, she wouldn't part from me.
Nicole:Did you ask her about it this morning?

Monica:I should have, but she didn't say anything.

Monica:No, she did say last night was weird.
Monica:That was all she said, though.

Kelsey:Well, this is gonna be, like a real 360 from what you were just saying, because while yours was creepy in a creepy kid way, this is creepy in a different way.
Kelsey:So I found a Reddit of a sleepover.
Kelsey:I combed through tons and tons.
Kelsey:We all did.
Kelsey:Sitting there at the table at the cabin.
Monica:There were some very disturbing stories on earth.
Monica:Let me just say that I was.
Kelsey:Trying to find, like, funny ghost stories or like pranks.
Kelsey:And for the most part they were all really disturbing.
Nicole:Yeah.
Kelsey:So this one is disturbing, but in a less disturbing than some of the other ones.
Kelsey:If that.
Kelsey:If that can.
Kelsey:Like if you hear this and you're like, how is this less disturbing?
Kelsey:Just use your imagination because I promised you they were much more disturbing ones.
Kelsey:Ooh.
Kelsey:Okay.
Kelsey:I slept over at a friend's house once on their couch.
Kelsey:And his grandfather passed away that night in his chair, like 5ft away from me.
Kelsey:I didn't wake up until two police officers walked into the room and his mom quickly grabbed me and walked me into another room.
Kelsey:All I could do was hear and everyone sounded upset.
Kelsey:I was confused for the longest time until someone finally came in and told me that I spent the night with a corpse in the room.
Kelsey:My thing is like, why did the mom wait till the cops were there to come take him out of the room?
Nicole:Oh my God.
Nicole:Get the kid out of there when you find he doesn't have a pole.
Kelsey:The man is dead.
Monica:Sleeping.
Kelsey:Yeah.
Nicole:How quiet when they found him dead, did they kill him?
Nicole:Like, how did not get woken up until the cops got there?
Nicole:That is does not make sense.
Kelsey:Yeah.
Kelsey:Where were they at that he realized?
Kelsey:Was he like sleeping on the couch and the grandpa was in like the chair and they're like, grandpa, go to bed and he didn't wake up.
Kelsey:And then it was like, oh, he's dead.
Kelsey:Because like, why?
Nicole:The most calm finding of a corpse ever.
Nicole:Grandpa.
Monica:Did you say how old he was?
Kelsey:No.
Nicole:He's a grandpa though.
Ashleigh:The grandpa or the kid?
Monica:The kid or both.
Kelsey:No, it didn't the kid because I'm.
Monica:Just imagining depending on how old he is, like, that's something his friends are never gonna let.
Nicole:No, he's gotta find new friends.
Kelsey:Well, it's not his fault the man died next to him.
Kelsey:I'd be mad at the friend.
Kelsey:Never let you live it down.
Kelsey:Your grandpa died 5ft from you?
Ashleigh:Yep.
Kelsey:And then your mom just let me lay there until the cops came.
Ashleigh:No, no.

Ashleigh:I would not, in this situation, let me just not wake this child up until.
Nicole:Yeah, it's weird all around.
Monica:Like, they could have easily woken him up and been like, hey, we're gonna move you into this room, go to sleep.
Monica:And then dealt with everything else.
Kelsey:Yeah, but he just knew something was wrong or something.
Kelsey:I mean, if, if they had done that before the cops got there, he probably would have went right back to sleep and like, not thought anything about it.
Monica:Would have thought grandpa was sleeping.
Kelsey:He's like, what?
Monica:What did I miss?
Ashleigh:I would have been calling my parents so fast.
Kelsey:Oh, my God.
Monica:Yeah, right?
Kelsey:I absolutely would stay there.
Monica:I was not the kid to call for my parents to pick me up from a sleepover.
Monica:But that would have done it.
Kelsey:Oh, I was.
Monica:I would have called that time.
Kelsey:I always got.
Kelsey:I always got, like, nervous and was like, mom, can you come get me?
Nicole:That doesn't surprise me, actually.
Nicole:I don't know why that makes sense.
Nicole:That kind of fits you for some reason.
Ashleigh:Yeah, I wasn't really.
Kelsey:I fought it most of the time, but there were times that I was like, no, you gotta come get me.
Nicole:My cousin always used to want to get picked up from sleepovers, and I would get so annoyed.
Monica:I would get annoyed.
Nicole:Such a baby.
Nicole:Yeah.
Nicole:Yeah.
Monica:I felt the same.
Monica:That would happen.
Monica:Like, why?
Nicole:Yeah, we're having fun.
Kelsey:It was usually.
Kelsey:I was fine until it was, like, there was, like, downtime or, like, it was, like, time to go to bed or, you know, the ones where you stayed busy the whole time, it was fine.
Kelsey:But if there was, like, any weirdness, then I wanted to leave.
Monica:Like, what kind of weirdness?
Kelsey:Like, we weren't having fun or like, somebody, or, like, they got in trouble by their parents or something.
Kelsey:I wanted to leave.
Kelsey:This definitely not like, high school.
Kelsey:This is like elementary school.
Ashleigh:I'm trying to think.
Ashleigh:I feel like I really only called my mom to pick me up from sleepover, like, one time.
Ashleigh:And I think it was my very, very, very first sleepover.
Ashleigh:But then, like, after that.
Kelsey:I say that, that, but, like, I don't actually think that I got picked up.
Kelsey:That, like, I probably really only maybe once or twice.
Ashleigh:You're just constantly calling your mom, and your mom's like, fucking deal with it.
Kelsey:No, she would never.
Kelsey:My mom would never.
Kelsey:She'd be like, no, I'm coming right fucking now.
Kelsey:No, I think most of the time I had anxiety, and I just, like, forced it down.
Kelsey:But, yeah, a couple times I did call.
Ashleigh:Yeah.
Monica:I mean, I think as a parent now, it's a good thing that you felt comfortable enough to call and she'd come and get you.
Monica:But growing up, I was definitely.
Monica:I did not see it that way.
Nicole:Well, when you're a kid, you don't.
Nicole:You're not.
Nicole:Yeah.
Nicole:You don't think about.
Monica:No.
Nicole:Anything else, really.
Monica:It was like a sleepover.
Monica:I get to get out of the house.
Ashleigh:Yes.
Ashleigh:Yeah.
Kelsey:Yeah.
Monica:It does.
Nicole:So I had a best friend growing up.
Nicole:She's still, like, my best friend now.
Nicole:We just live very far apart from each other.
Nicole:But she was sleeping over.
Nicole:Yeah, I don't think she listens.
Nicole:I don't think she listens to the podcast, though.
Nicole:I'm gonna have to have breaks with her best friend.
Kelsey:You have my best friend title.
Kelsey:Get your ass in here.
Ashleigh:Taylor.

Monica:She said Taylor.
Nicole:So anyways, Taylor was sleeping over at my house.
Nicole:We were probably like, let's call it eleven.
Nicole:And my little brother at the time was maybe like four.
Nicole:He's quite a bit younger than me.
Nicole:My mom was at work, she was working nights, and my dad was home.
Nicole:And my dad is just not the most involved parenthood.
Nicole:He fell asleep on the couch.
Ashleigh:Everybody out.
Nicole:He did frequently.
Nicole:That's just the facts.
Nicole:He fell asleep on the couch.
Nicole:And this man would take so many naps.
Nicole: couch, but it's like eight or: Nicole:and for some reason we start.
Nicole:Maybe we had like, some little water guns we were squirting at each other, I don't know.
Nicole:But things progressed to a full on water fight between me and Taylor and my brother.
Nicole:Like, we had the sink in the kitchen turned on and it had one of those sprayers you pick up, you know, that you could, like, actually, like, I feel like houses don't really have those that much anymore, but we had one growing up.
Nicole:So the sprayer you pick up.
Nicole:So we have the sink just running and we have the sprayer for the sink, and we're spraying each other.
Nicole:We're getting cups filled with water, throwing them at each other.
Monica:We're flooding the house.
Nicole:We are making such a mess.
Nicole:And when I tell you my dad is like 10ft away, like, he's not far away at all.
Nicole:And this is also going on throughout the whole house.
Nicole:Like, we have the kitchen with the sink going.
Nicole:We have the refrigerator, has the push water thing on the outside, we're pressing that, making the floor slippery.
Nicole:So when we run through, people slip.
Nicole:We're in the bathroom filling up cups of water, throwing.
Nicole:I'm like, eleven.
Nicole:Like eleven, maybe ten.
Nicole:I don't know, nine.
Nicole:Somewhere around there.
Nicole:My brother is significantly younger.
Nicole:That's.
Nicole:That's important.
Nicole:So this is going on forever.
Nicole:My dad's just passed out on the couch, snoring like, not a care in the world to what his children are doing.
Nicole:And so finally, my mom doesn't get off work till like eleven.
Nicole:So we hear the garage opening and we're like, fuck, you know, we're scared.
Nicole:So me and Taylor immediately are like, we got to come up with a plan.
Nicole:Oh, so, no.
Kelsey:Your poor brother.
Nicole:I can feel it.
Nicole:We run and get our pajamas on, and we're like, okay, we'll just pretend we just got out of the shower.
Nicole:That's why we're.
Nicole:Because we're wet.
Nicole:We're like, we need a reason for why we are sopping wet, head to toe.
Nicole:We're like, we just got out of the shower, got our pajamas on.
Nicole:We're in bed.
Nicole:Louie did all of that.
Nicole:The house, there's, like, probably at least, like, an inch of water on the kitchen floor.
Nicole:Like, there's water everywhere.
Nicole:And so we put on our pajamas and we go in my room, and my mom gets home and she is pissed.
Nicole:Oh, my God, she's so mad.
Nicole:She obviously, I tried to say, like, she came yelling at us, what's going on?
Nicole:And we were like, pretended to play dumb.
Nicole:She wasn't having it.
Nicole:It didn't even last for, like, a millisecond.
Nicole:She was like, absolutely not.
Nicole:She's yelling at my dad.
Nicole:He's like, you know, awoken from the dead, just completely oblivious.
Nicole:She took Taylor home that night.
Nicole:We weren't allowed to have sleepover for a long time.
Nicole:And I think my mom quit her job, and she just stayed home after that.
Nicole:She's.
Ashleigh:Children cannot be trusted.
Monica:You drove her to quit her job?
Nicole:Yeah.
Nicole:I mean, I think the real fight here is between my mom and my dad, where she's like, you're not responsible enough to watch the children.
Nicole:Okay, I'm gonna quit my job job now so I can stay home.
Nicole:I think that's what happened between them.
Nicole:But she was really mad at me, and.
Nicole:Yeah.
Nicole:Took Taylor home, and it was a sad, it was a sad night for us.
Monica:I can imagine that that was probably one of those moments.
Monica:It was, like, so fun.
Monica:And you're just, like, caught up into.
Nicole:Like, the moment we were caught up.
Nicole:I remember.
Monica:And then all of a sudden, it's like, oh, shit.
Nicole:Uh huh.
Nicole:It's like a core memory.
Nicole:I have so many core memories of the water fight and of the garage opening and the fear that, like, struck us down.
Kelsey:You should have really tried something like, oh, the sink.
Kelsey:Like, it shut off.
Nicole:Like, we only had seconds to plan.
Kelsey:But you wouldn't put your pajamas on.
Monica:Okay.
Kelsey:I would have taken a wrench to the pipe or something.
Nicole:We were just like, louie.
Nicole:It's Louie.
Nicole:Blame Louie.
Nicole:He's a problem child.
Monica:He's four.
Kelsey:He won't be able to defend.
Nicole:He was just, like, there, wet in the midst of it.
Nicole:When my mom came in, as the.
Monica:Youngest sibling in my family.
Monica:I feel for him on that, because it always gets put on us.
Nicole:You know what?
Nicole:A lot of times, it was him, but maybe I must have had an infant brother at the time too, who I guess slept through all of it too.
Nicole:I have no memory of where he was, but.
Ashleigh:Oh, no, not the baby.
Monica:Not the baby.
Nicole:Unless he wasn't born yet.
Ashleigh:I don't also.
Ashleigh:So I am.
Nicole:I am.
Ashleigh:I am your mom right now.
Ashleigh:I'm so angry at your dad for.
Monica:Sleeping through all of that.
Nicole:It was incredible how he's incredible sleeper.
Nicole:He will just.
Nicole:I.
Nicole:He could sleep through, like, anything, clearly.
Ashleigh:Warfare.
Nicole:I think so.
Nicole:Yeah, I think so.
Monica:Oh, my gosh.

Ashleigh:I wish I could sleep that deep.

Ashleigh:I'm, like, kind of jealous, actually.
Monica:I don't think we're wired that way.
Monica:We're moms.

Monica:And a switch got turned on when we became moms.
Nicole:Yeah.
Kelsey:And at this, I think.
Kelsey:And when you become a dad, the switch gets turned the opposite way.
Nicole:Right.
Kelsey:You better start sleeping heavier, because Trevor could.
Kelsey:Yeah, he's, like, waking the dead.
Nicole:No, I do think I actually sleep pretty heavy, but I usually wake up if, like, my kids wake up.
Nicole:Like, if the monitor goes off, I'll usually wake up right away, I think.
Ashleigh:Or if Kelsey's running across the house.
Nicole:Kelsey's running.
Nicole:I wake up.
Nicole:But no, but look, you guys said that the snow was slamming down at the cabin from on the roof, and me and the.
Kelsey:We did.
Kelsey:It was slamming down right outside your door too.
Kelsey:Yeah.
Monica:I think Kelsey and I were losing it.
Nicole:It was my body's response to, like, keep me safe from the trauma of having to go through any more of that horror.
Kelsey:We're, like, laying there, and the snow is sliding off the cabin roof, and it's just pounding onto the deck, onto the ground, everywhere.
Kelsey:And it's.
Kelsey:It's like, every 30 seconds, every time you start to calm down from the last one, and you're like, kelsey, you know, it's no why you're freaking out, but it's so loud, and it just sounds like someone's in the house with you.
Kelsey:Yeah.
Kelsey:We get calm, and we probably have a good minute of silence, and I'm kind of, like, we're relaxing, we're talking, and this really loud one slams down, and I jumped.
Kelsey:I slammed my head against the freaking solid wood bed frame.
Kelsey:I.
Monica:Was video because she, like, smacked her head, and then instead of going down on the bed, she, like, flopped over on top of me, just, like, held her.
Kelsey:It hurt.
Monica:I was pretty sure you were bleeding.
Ashleigh:And I were just sound asleep.
Kelsey:I know.
Nicole:Oh, God.
Monica:Yeah.
Nicole:I wouldn't have been able to get.
Monica:Up for a second there.
Monica:Thought I was gonna have to, like, try to make it down that mountain.
Monica:Oh, down the mountain.
Nicole:We were gonna superglue it.
Nicole:If that was the case.
Kelsey:We probably didn't have any super glue.
Nicole:Probably.
Kelsey:Can you imagine?
Kelsey:My hair would have been wrecked.
Kelsey:Anyways, mine was really interesting.
Kelsey:So I was at a girl's birthday party, and I would.
Kelsey:This is one of the biggest summer parties I think I'd ever been to.
Kelsey:I would say there was at least ten girls, possibly more.
Kelsey:Plus her sister, who was, like, pretty young.
Kelsey:I would say we were preteens or middle school, maybe.
Kelsey:I don't know exactly.
Kelsey:Not like full on teenagers, but not like little kids either.
Kelsey:Her sister, however, was like, a little kid.
Kelsey:Like eight, I would guess.
Kelsey:I don't know.
Kelsey:So we're all there, and her parents are like, okay, well, we're gonna go.
Kelsey:Granted, she had, like, an older brother who was an adult, basically.
Kelsey:I think he was, like, early twenties maybe.

Kelsey:Anyways, they were like, we're gonna go do something.
Kelsey:I can't even remember what their excuse was.
Kelsey:And they're like, do you want to go to the little sister?
Kelsey:She said no.
Kelsey:So they left, and they're gone a little bit.
Kelsey:And it's getting dark outside.
Kelsey:And we're up in her bedroom, and they have one of those houses where, like, there's a kind of almost a wraparound porch.
Kelsey:And then so the.
Kelsey:The roof is, like, right below the windows, upstairs windows, you know.
Kelsey:And we're all sitting in a room, and lights start shining in the window, like, flashlights.
Kelsey:And we're like, there's someone looking in our windows.
Kelsey:And we were freaking out.
Kelsey:And they're like, no, no, no.
Kelsey:There was, like, half of us saw it.
Kelsey:Half of us didn't know.
Kelsey:No one's there.
Kelsey:And the older brother's like, no, there's no one there.
Kelsey:And it stopped for a little bit, and then we, like, calm down, and it started again.
Kelsey:They were like, obviously, this is a flashlight.
Kelsey:This is not headlights.
Kelsey:These are flashlights shining in our window.
Kelsey:So they're like, well, let's go downstairs.
Kelsey:So we start down the stairs, and the power cuts off in the whole house.
Nicole:Oh, my God.
Kelsey:And, like, panic sets in.
Nicole:No shit.
Kelsey:It's like, I think if I had.
Kelsey:I just.
Kelsey:At this point, I can't imagine thinking back on it, why no one was like, we should probably call 911.
Kelsey:But that didn't cross anyone's mind.
Kelsey:And the big brother was not saying that.
Kelsey:He was just like, it's fine.
Kelsey:Like.
Kelsey:And then I don't.
Kelsey:I think that we were like, maybe we should go check the breaker.
Kelsey:But it's in the basement.
Kelsey:And the basement was one of those really freaking spooky basements.
Kelsey:Not like a nice finished basement.
Kelsey:Like, it was all, like, rock and unfinished and creepy.
Kelsey:So I think a couple of us, like, started down there, but we didn't make it all the way because it was scary.
Kelsey:But at one point, the little sister is, like, freaking out.
Kelsey:Like, she's crying.
Kelsey:She was so upset, she threw up.
Nicole:Oh, my God.
Ashleigh:Poor thing.
Kelsey:This all comes.
Kelsey:I don't know.
Kelsey:I should have asked somebody to, like, refresh my memory if they had any memories that I couldn't.
Kelsey:But the lights came back on and the parents, like, came out and they were like, ha ha.
Kelsey:Like, it was a joke.
Kelsey:So they were the ones that did the whole thing.
Nicole:But what?
Kelsey:The big brother, obviously he didn't call 911 because he was in on the little sister that freaked herself out and threw up.
Kelsey:She knew the whole plan and she got so scared.
Nicole:Oh, she got.
Nicole:She got wrapped up in it.
Kelsey:Yeah.
Kelsey:And I told this so quickly, but honestly, I mean, it probably took over an hour.
Kelsey:Like, this all happened within, like an hour or more time span.
Kelsey:So it wasn't like some quick, like, oh, they shine the lights in the windows and they shut off the breaker.
Kelsey:No.
Kelsey:Like, it was a long, drawn outland.
Nicole:You raid.
Kelsey:They pulled on us like, it was insanely funny.
Nicole:I don't think that's funny.
Nicole:How old were you?
Kelsey:I think we were.
Kelsey:I think we were in middle school.
Kelsey:I think we were like 7th or 8th grade, if I had to guess.
Nicole:I don't know.
Monica:That is not prime time for some sleepovers.
Nicole:Spooky.
Nicole:Yeah.
Ashleigh:It also is not nice.
Kelsey:It's really, like, it is funny.
Kelsey:And I think we all thought it was funny, but.
Kelsey:But I wonder.
Kelsey:I'm sure I told my mom.
Kelsey:I wonder what she thought about it when I told her because looking back.
Nicole:On it, it's like, wow, that was a little inappropriate.
Kelsey:Yeah.
Monica:It's funny because I have a similar story.
Kelsey:Maybe we didn't all have cell phones because we must have been young enough that we didn't have cell phones yet.
Nicole:Yeah.
Kelsey:Or at least a lot of us didn't because I feel like that would have been different.
Kelsey:I don't know.
Kelsey:But yeah, it was.
Monica:Yeah.
Monica:I had a very similar experience.
Monica:Except when.
Monica:When this happened.
Monica:I mean, we were in junior high as well, and we had the bright idea of playing, like, the light as a feather, stiff as a board game and, like, bloody Mary and, like, all the spooky games, right?
Monica:So we're already freaking ourselves out, and in the middle of us playing same thing, like, lights went out.
Monica:But it wasn't even just that.
Monica:It was, like, throughout the whole night, like, we would hear, like, different, like, creaks and, like, different, like, bangs and, like, above the room, we would hear noises, and then.
Monica:And then the entire power went out.
Monica:But then on top of that, if I remember correctly, we tried to leave her bedroom, my friend's bedroom.
Monica:And, like, the door was locked from the outside.
Monica:Yeah.
Kelsey:Yeah.
Monica:It was not okay.
Monica:And of course it was, you know, her older brother and cousin and dad who were, like, all in on it, but, like, it.
Monica:It scared the shit out of us.
Monica:Like, I'm pretty sure that, like, we could have peed our pants.
Monica:Like, it was so scary, but they were, like, completely in on it.
Monica:Like, climbing on the roof and, like, banging on things because they knew what we were up to.
Ashleigh:No, no.
Nicole:Too scary.
Monica:Core memory, though.
Ashleigh:Terrifying.
Ashleigh:Yeah, terrifying.
Monica:It was.
Monica:It was very terrifying.
Monica:I don't think I've played that game since.
Nicole:Yeah.
Monica:I think that was the last time all of us played it.
Monica:But that house was also creepy and caught fire twice, so there's something wrong with that house anyway.
Ashleigh:Okay.
Nicole:I don't like that.
Monica:No.
Ashleigh:So.
Ashleigh:So maybe it wasn't just them you were hearing.
Monica:I don't know.
Monica:I don't know.
Ashleigh:I don't like that.
Kelsey:I don't like that.
Kelsey:No.
Monica:No, no.
Monica:One of my favorite, like, sleepover stories.
Monica:I actually was much older in college.
Monica:I volunteered with our church.
Monica:Like, I've shared that with you guys before, but we would do, like, some sleepovers with our girls.
Monica:I worked with, like, the 7th grade girls.
Monica:And so we would do these sleepovers and, like, we'd do pranks and stuff all the time.
Monica:Well, one time, my now husband, James, but we weren't even dating at the time yet.
Monica:We were just really, really good friends.
Monica:He decided that he was going to help us prank the 7th grade boys.
Monica:And so me and all of our girls were like, yes.
Monica:Like, we are so in on this.
Monica:So they were supposed to be having a sleepover and we were supposed to go and prank them at the church.
Monica:Well, little did we know that there was a lot going on that we didn't know about.
Monica:So we arrived to the church, and now it wasn't even just like, my girls, it was all like 6th, 7th, 8th grade girls.
Monica:So we had probably, like, 50 girls there.
Monica:And we get there, we go into one of the, like, the big youth room, whatever, to go and, like, hide to prank the boys.
Monica:But as the girls go in, and I'm, like, up at the top of the hill walking down, and they're, like, getting ahead and go into the room.
Monica:So I'm, like, observing all of this, and they go into the room, and as soon as they all get into the room, the boys locked the girls in.
Monica:So now I'm still at the top of the hill watching this go down where my girls get locked inside the building and I can't get to bed.
Monica:And then as they go inside the building, they ended up having, like, flower bombs and, like, a ton of other stuff prepped.
Monica:The girls are just ambushed in the room.
Monica:The other girls and the other leaders are, like, trying to get to them.
Monica:And there's this back door to the building that I go to try to open, and they, like, stacked chairs.
Monica:And it was the most, like, it was so pitiful because there's, like, ten arms, like, reaching through.
Monica:They had done, like, strobe lights and, like, crazy music.
Monica:So, like, the girls couldn't see what was happening, and it ended up being like.
Monica:It was so funny, though.
Monica:But so eventually, like, we were able to get in and get it to the girls.
Monica:And I still have pictures of everyone just, like, I covered in flower.
Nicole:Oh, a flower bob.
Nicole:Like.
Nicole:Like, the cooking, flowering flowers.
Nicole:Like, this whole time, I'm like, we're gonna have to circle back to flower bomb.
Kelsey:Yeah, I know this sounds romantic almost.
Kelsey:They're, like, showering.
Kelsey:There were flowers.
Monica:No, not romantic.
Monica:It was like, I think they had, like, coffee filters or they used, like, toilet paper or something like that.
Monica:And they put the flower in there and there's, like, this balcony.
Monica:So as the girls all went in, the power went out, the strobe lights went on, their music went crazy.
Kelsey:A lot of preparation.
Nicole:How did they know that they would go, my husband.
Nicole:Yeah, but what if the girls never made the plan to go in there?
Monica:Well, that was the whole thing is James, like, was so into it and was getting the girls, like, so hyped up.
Kelsey:He put him.
Monica:Him and his best friend Jason, like, they baited us.
Nicole:Oh, God.
Kelsey:Never trust a man.
Monica:Everyone was, like, so into it that we were finally gonna get the boys.
Monica:Cause they always pranked us.
Kelsey:This was such a good lesson for these young girls to never trust a man.
Monica:It's true.
Nicole:I'll never trust James, though.
Kelsey:Wow.
Monica:Yeah, no, this is what he does.
Monica:Like, he's all quiet and he doesn't say much, but, like, he's scheming.
Nicole:Yeah, those are the ones you got.
Monica:He knows all the details.
Nicole:It's always the quiet ones.
Monica:So here's the funny thing.
Monica:The funny thing is that that night after we left is the night that Nicole, one of my really good friends who is dating Jason, her and I were driving away, and that was the same night that, like, she ended up asking me, she's like, I wish that you and James would date so that we could have a double date, which we were only best friends at the time.
Monica:And I freaked out, and I was like, what are you talking about?
Monica:Did he say something?
Monica:Why would you ask me that?
Monica:And then the rest of the night, why did I react to that?
Kelsey:Gosh dang, Minka.
Nicole:That was history.
Monica:And the history.
Monica:And then we got married, but, like, that was the night.
Nicole:Now they're married and they have a scary kid.
Nicole:She sees creepy men, creepy men in the corner.
Monica:But it was probably one of my favorite sleepover memories.
Monica:It was so funny.
Kelsey:All right, we had to pause for some shade.
Kelsey:Now, on to the next nicole, cut your sleepover story.
Nicole:Tell us about your sleepovers.
Kelsey:Okay.
Ashleigh:One of my favorite sleepover stories that I have, I don't have a lot of, like, scary ones that I could think of, but one that I thought of that made me just, like, cackle, laugh.
Kelsey:And I always just giggle thinking about it.
Ashleigh:My best friend and I, she, I swear she's like the honorary member of this podcast because I think I mention her every fucking episode.
Ashleigh:So anyway, I spent a lot of my life with her.
Ashleigh:I was literally there all the time.
Ashleigh:Well, her parents were not together.
Ashleigh:And then some point in our friendship, they got kind of back together and he moved in.
Ashleigh:Her dad is no longer with us anymore.
Ashleigh:Rest in peace, Jim.
Ashleigh:He was a badass.
Ashleigh:We love Jim, but he also was drunk a lot of the time.
Ashleigh:So he had come back from work one night, and he did, like, not complete overnights, but like really late shifts into the night.
Ashleigh:So it'd be super late when he came home.
Ashleigh:And we were having a sleepover one time and we heard him coming home, so we decided to go and scurry into there little dining room area.
Ashleigh:And so, like, back in, you know, the early two thousands people had this thing called tablecloths that they put over their tables, right?
Ashleigh:I swear, I never see them anymore.
Ashleigh:My best friend's mom had a floor length one.
Ashleigh:Okay, so it cover it.
Ashleigh:Like, literally went down to the floor on all sides, a huge tablecloth.
Ashleigh:And we hid under there.
Ashleigh:And he had been home for a little bit and had already kind of been, like, a little tipsy, and we were like, this is the perfect opportunity to mess with him.
Ashleigh:And we did.
Ashleigh:And so every time he walked past the table.
Ashleigh:So actually, it starts off.
Ashleigh:He goes.
Ashleigh:We hear.
Ashleigh:We see him go to her room and check in on us, and we put, like, pillows and, like, stuff under where we would be sleeping so it looked like we were still there.
Ashleigh:And he's like, okay, good night, kids.
Ashleigh:And, like, closes the door, and he's, like, muttering to himself.
Ashleigh:He also was, like, veteran, so we were a little bit mean and kind of played to his PTSD that he had.
Ashleigh:This is not nice.
Ashleigh:Please don't do this to people that have PTSD.
Kelsey:But.
Ashleigh:So he's walking past the kitchen table a lot of times, and we're grabbing his legs.
Ashleigh:We're out from under the kitchen table, and he's, like, panicked.
Ashleigh:He's like, is that.
Ashleigh:And you could hear him, like, kind of drunk, muttering.
Ashleigh:He's like, damn.
Nicole:Go.
Ashleigh:And, like, literally is, like, thinking that something is messing with him.
Ashleigh:And we just kept doing it as many times as we could, and he never thought to look under the tablecloth.
Ashleigh:Never looked under the tablecloth.
Ashleigh:Just.
Ashleigh:It kept almost tripping over our limbs that we were sticking out and, like, grabbing him with and actually had it in his mind that he was being tormented by some entity and was grumbling to himself about it.
Ashleigh:So finally, we're like, okay, this is kind of mean.
Ashleigh:We were laughing, but we were cracking up because it was just funny.
Ashleigh:And anyway, so we're laughing too hard.
Ashleigh:Finally, he actually kind of spooked us because we weren't expecting him.
Ashleigh:Finally, he looks under the tablecloth, and we scream and scurry back to the room, and he's like, oh, you damn kids.
Ashleigh:And, like, he was much older, so that's just like, how he was.
Ashleigh:You're your damn kids.
Ashleigh:I went, I like grumbling and, like.
Monica:Drunk, and it was so funny.
Ashleigh:It's one of my fondest, like, sleepover memories.
Ashleigh:I'm like, oh, Gina, remember that time we messed with your dad so bad?
Ashleigh:Like.
Ashleigh:Like, he really thought the ghosts from his wartime days were actually coming to take him away.
Ashleigh:Like, oh, my God.
Ashleigh:It's not nice, but it's kind of funny.
Nicole:I just love your old man impression.
Nicole:I know it's accurate.
Ashleigh:It was.
Ashleigh:It was accurate for Jim at least I was trying really hard to think of any times, like, anything scary.
Ashleigh:Happy, doubt of sleepover, and I can't remember.
Ashleigh:I'm sure she'll text me after this goes lives.
Ashleigh:And she'll be like, hey, remember that one time?
Ashleigh:Oh, I do have another time with her sisters.
Ashleigh:Her sisters were really fucked up.
Ashleigh:So Gina's, like, terrified of Raggedy Ann and Andy Valentine, right?
Ashleigh:They are scary, though.
Ashleigh:She's also really afraid of the Grinch.
Ashleigh:Well, this is before we knew that it was.
Nicole:Raggedy Ann, Andy, and the Grinch.
Nicole:We are stacking up knowledge of what Gina is afraid of, horrified of the Grinch.
Ashleigh:She's terrified of the Grinch.
Monica:Cartoon, Carrie, Grinch.
Kelsey:All of it.
Ashleigh:Every Grinch.
Ashleigh:It doesn't matter.
Ashleigh:All of the grinches, she's scared of them.

Ashleigh:But we had her sister.
Ashleigh:Her, okay, so she's way younger.
Ashleigh:Like, significantly younger than both of her sisters.
Ashleigh:And her sisters were at her mom's house staying the night for some reason with us.
Ashleigh:And you had both been out of the room and then gone back to the room, and her sister was moving the fucking raggedy Ann doll, like, all over.
Ashleigh:And we didn't know that it was her.
Ashleigh:And I was freaking us out every time we fucking think stupid thing would be in a different place.
Ashleigh:And then eventually it was in, like, like, where she was sleeping, and it, like, totally freaked us out.
Nicole:But that is scary.
Ashleigh:I don't.
Ashleigh:We don't fuck with scary dolls on this podcast.
Ashleigh:We already know that was really traumatizing.
Monica:And now they've talked about scary dolls.
Monica:They keep showing up.
Nicole:We see them everywhere.
Monica:They were all over Colorado.
Kelsey:Well, my third grade teacher, she made Raggedy Ann and Andy's.
Kelsey:Like, she made them.
Kelsey:People would buy them from her.
Kelsey:And so, like, obviously, when I was in third grade, when I was in third grade, I wanted.
Kelsey:Obviously, I knew she sold them.
Kelsey:So, like, I.
Kelsey:My mom bought me a raggedy Ann and Andy because I wanted them.
Kelsey:And then I was like, a couple months ago, mom's like, these are your.
Kelsey:Like, do you want to take these home?
Kelsey:And I'm like, God, no, don't think in my head, no, I don't even want it in this room, in your house.
Kelsey:Like, why do you own these?
Kelsey:These need to be burned.
Kelsey:This is like, just knowing that raggedy Ann is Annabelle.

Nicole:She said it was especially creepy when the little girl brought it over and put it in the baby swing next to Dakota's child and was swinging it and telling them that the doll's name was Emma.

Nicole:If that happened to me at the park, I would have just the doll on the bench like that.

Monica:It is, but also, I feel like if you ever really wanted to entertain yourself, that'd be the thing to do, is just gather a bunch of creepy dolls and, like, place them in the parks and just watch people.
